After 20 months of gestation, the birth of Mgix makes Madagascar 121st country in the world to have its own internet echange point behind the 454 internet exhange points already installed in 120 countries.  Besides, Madagascar is the 23rd african country to have its «  Root Server ».

The main office  of Mgix located in Andraharo was inaugurated by  the Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and New Technologies RAKOTOMAMONJY André N. He argues «

Mgix is the symbol of internet creation in Madagascar, the Internet by Malagasy ad Internet between Malagasy people. »  For him, with this new numerical vitality, the country  is well equipped to enter into the internet economy.    Mgix will be managed by I Renala, neutral member among the founders of Mgix.

We will see in the coming days if  this shift to local internet host has an impact on internet cost.
