Origin Africa : textile exposition in Antananarivo in November 2016


Origin Africa, the yearly african cotton - textile and clothing industries exhibition event will be held in Antananarivo from 3 to 5 November 2016 at Expo Forello Tanjombato. Many countries mostly african  ones have already responded favorably to their invitation like Ouganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Mauritius, Germany, India and South African.  The event is jointly organized by Africa Cotton & Textile Industries Federation (ACTIF), the Free Trade Zone Companies and Partners (GEFP) and Publi Promo Ltd.


More than fifty malagasy companies in textile sector will be present during the exhibition. These enterprises are principally selling home textile, jewelleries, leather, natural fiber products.   Origin Africa’s objective is to present Africa as an investment opportunity, a textile supplier and an importer continent.  The event will show off the textile creativity and innovation of african modern actors as declared Mr John Hargreaves during the information session last Thursday at Ibis Hotel.


The Executive Director of GEFP Madagascar, Ms Eva Razafimandimby stated that the event will be a tool for facilitating recovery  of textile industry in the country severly hit by economic crisis in 2008 and suffered from AGOA program in 2010 which cost the country around 335 Millions Usd.  To a country which owes its development to textile sector ; through Origin Africa, Madagascar is expecting to take again its place among the first textile exporting countries  before Mauritius, Lesotho and Kenya.
