Tulear hosts the Junior Chamber International conference of Southern Zone in Madagascar.


The South Zone regional conference of the Junior Chamber International (JCI)  is being held in Tulear – South West of Madagascar since 29 March 2017. The South Zone of JCI Madagascar includes local organizations based in Antsirabe, Fianarantsoa, Manakara, Fort Dauphin and finally Toliara, chosen to be the host city.

Until the 1st April, many activities are on the agenda such as teacher training of seven members from Fort Dauphin and Tulear or the capacity building training courses including the seetin-up of projects with sustainable impacts on the community.


JCI's mission is to offer development opportunities to young people by enabling them to create positive change.The General Assembly, taking place on 31 March 2017, will be an opportunity for each organization to make an assessment  of the previous activities and also to decide on the future of JCI Madagascar. The achievement of this national base  was done in partnership with Orange, Air Madagascar, the PACOM and STAR Groups.

Apart from the training, several competitions are also organized such in  public speaking art and debate competition. Winners of these competitions from South zone will be able to defend the colors of Toliara at the next national convention to be held in September. For some days, Toliara is therefore the capital of active Malagasy citizenship!
