One day before Open Data for Francophone Africa meeting in Ouagadougou

 

The first edition of Open Data for French-speaking Africa meeting (CAFDO 2017) will take place tomorrow in Ouagadougou – Burkina Faso. During three days,  from 1 to 3 June 2017, more than sixty participants from seventeen african countries will be gathered to improve the current situation of open data in the continent through exchange of experiences and construction of open data leaders network. Government officials, civil society, open data communities, development organizations are all actors expected to participate during this conference with other renowned speakers and world open data experts.

 

Open Data is an important requirement for economic growth in developing nations. For its side, Madagascar will be represented by Madagascar Initiatives for Digital Innovation (MAIDI), after launching Open Food Madagascar, the association intends to develop a new challenging project enabling both waste data collection and private company empowerment while strenghtening their environmental liability. This event is expected to be the first of a series of  similar conferences.

 

The event is officially supported by Open Data for Development (OD4D), Open Knowledge and School of Data, IRDC and AODC and is of a great interest for CFI Media, World Bank and Etalab …
